Group buy?
« on: November 17, 2008, 12:35:34 AM »
Could the now-Remington-owned NEF be pursuaded to do a custom run of handi barrels/rifles in a group buy?

How about:

.25-20
.32-20
(add your choice of custom chambering)

The deal with group buys is that a member of the group can buy the stuff from somewhere. For example, Lee sells bullet molds to people, so a guy can design a bullet and order 100 molds from Lee.

Remington/H&R sells firearms to distributors, not to people. If somebody who owned an H&R distributorship wanted to organize a group buy, it'd be relatively easy. Or if a group like Whitetails Unlimited or Pheasants Forever wants to order 500 custom guns to give out at raffles around the country, it's easy for them to find a distributor to partner up with them.

Bank in the Gardner days, it seemed like any distributor who wanted 100 of something could get it. Not sure about the current factory.

A 7mm Mauser sure would be nice, or even a .257 Roberts like Fred has.

How about as someone else mentioned I think on the rimfire forum, a long barreled .22 so you could make it a Jr. Quigley.

I'd go in for a Bob.
I don't think it will happen.

That part is somewhat doable, 7x57 Mauser and 7x64 Brenneke were in the catalog during this century, I think as recently as 2003 or so. Keep your eyes on the classifieds, or post a WTB ad yourself. 7x64 was a 24" barrel, I think the 7x57 was also.

You are right mitch,
both the 7x64 & 7x57 were 24".
At least both of mine are.

This smacks suspiciously of another wish list. ;D

I really would like a 6.5 either a Swede or a 260.

I do not want to be a pessimist, but...I seriously doubt if there would be enough real interest in much of any thing that you could hang your hat on. The last I knew, Remington was dropping the 35 Remington for lack of interest, but there seemed to be a lot of people that wanted one. ???

The single biggest problem with such a group buy idea and the reason you'll never make it work is you guys just can't agree on ONE chambering for it. That's the only way to make group buys work you have to have enough folks all wanting the same thing to justify it.

???  I thought my 7x57 was 22"   :-\  If they are 24 then that will change my whole outlook on the velocities I've been getting!   :(  Glad this came up!  I'll measure it when I get home from hunting this weekend!  :)

I think the Graybeard's Outdoor Limited Edition would be great!

24" Blued bull barrel with the straight walnut stock like the BC, only with a shorter forearm.

  I'll take two.

Wait a minute, had to come back and modify this one... maybe three or four. I need one for me and one for Jr. Then I'll most likely want one turned into a .22 Mag.

47-70
STAINLESS
THUMBHOLE LAMINATTED
16 INCH BARREL
SCOPE READY

Just get one of the new 45-70's that are stainless and spin the barrel off to length you want.

I would go for a 32-20 or 25-20, I know it probably wont happen but hey can always hope right.
