Sako bolt disassembly

Greetings from Montana........new guy to the board with a question. How do you disassemble a bolt on an A3 and A5 to expose the firing pin and spring? Any special tools needed? Is the technique the same for older actions, like an L 579? Thanks in advance!

If this the sako 75 version then if you purchased it new then it should have come with a plastic gizmo about 2" in diameter. It fits over the bolt shroud and has a small notch that fits over the cocking piece on the firing pin. Forget which direction you turn it and will practically disassemble itself. But be careful as it is under some tension from the firing pin spring. If you do not have this tool you can probably e-mail one of the larger
gun dealers or sako and order one. Hope this helps. Frank

Thanks for the info, Frank. With one exception I bought these guns used, and the one I bought new is actually a Mountain Eagle based on a round top Sako action. I can see where they come apart, but like you mentioned I am wary of the tension and dont want to borrow trouble.
