Bartman,

No help on S&K in particular but my first question to you is that S&K have 2 options correct?  They have a Scout set up for the Mauser and also one which fits on the receiver itself.

I have done scout set-ups before and have been relatively pleased with them for the money spent.  I do however (if pressed hard for an answer) feel they are an "improvement" in site picture but do not make my Mosin, Mauser or other scout set up into a sniper by any measure.  I get better shots but I have yet to perfect the scout set up.  A scout set up attaches by utilizing the rear site pin, you remove the military site and then pin in the scout mount, then adjustment screws on the base are used to line up the scope, then scope adjustments finish to zero.

In this thinking I would recommend going to the receiver mount as it would be more stable and less apt to be "off" next time to the range, that was my problem was getting my Zero to stay for any lenght of time.  This is just speculation on my part as well....like I said I do not have experience with S&K and that is what you asked for.  I don't even know how the receiver mount attaches to the rifle.

What type of shooting range/distance do you hope for with the Scope attached?  Maybe this can be your determining factor.  I guess my question is if you want to shoot 300 yds and get groupings I don't know if a scout/receiver set up is "good nuff" for your expectation.  If you wish to sharpen visuals at 100 yds by all means put one on.  Get my drift?  If I want 300 yd accuracy it would need to be a drill and tap to receiver OR as you have done ask if anyone has had super success.

As this has been no real help, I apologize, but do think about your expectation and if it seems reasonable.  Early in my collecting I spent money on almost any gadget or system and I have found that although many help none of them have made my rifle a "sniper" accurate weapon system :):):):)
