Good eavening all!

Anybody know where a feller can get a Charo type Sombreyo? Not one of those big hat dance types but something that I can shoot in. Looking for a palm leaf. Something of good quality also.

http://www.tontorim.com Denny has some that actually look good. Price is decent and they are easy to deal with.

Do you want a "real" straw sombrero or a broad palm leaf, shaped like a sombrero?

Big Hext, I really aint sure. As long as it looks good and feels good. I found a new to me company called Sunbody that touts the palmleaf as being a very good and durable hat material but I've never seen one in person. I have never mail ordered a hat because I like to try them on for comfort and have always bought them from the stores. Problem is I have never seen a good grade sombreyo around here anywhere. I guess what I'm getting at is that I'm looking for an authentic looking Mexican hat that would be cool in the summer and would stand up to be being worn in blistering heat and stand a downpour without coming apart on me.

Any suggestions would be well appreciated. :-)

I have a couple of palm leaf hats. They are excellent in durability and they can be shaped easily. I have one that is kind of a sombrero shape. Still it is not a sombrero and you can tell the difference.

So do you want authentic or is close good enough? I think you can buy from Sunbody or anyone with confidence on the quality of the hat.

Thank's for the link Big Hext. Most of the straws I have had have been Shantung. They have been durable enough but they are a might hot sometimes. I might just try out a palm leaf. Authentic just means fairly close to me as long as it looks like it belongs in the past and not in some costume party if you know what I mean. I wear my hats daily so comfort and durability is what I look for.
