Hodgdon titeWAD powder ?
« on: December 29, 2008, 05:01:17 PM »
Does anyone use this in a handgun cartridge?  Seems like it would be in the Bullseye category with target loads in the .38 special but I can't find any data for it, or for anything else (except shotshells).

Has anyone used Hodgdon tite WAD  (not titegroup) powder in a handgun cartridge??

Nope.  All their other shotgun powders are dual use (shotgun & pistol) but their website says, "This outstanding propellant (Titewad) designed for 12 gauge only..."

I've never seen handgun data for titewad.
I've used it for 12 gauge shotshells.  they aren't joking... a little goes a long way.

I think this propellant burns much too fast to be used in anything other than larger gauge shotguns.
If i remember correctly, this powder is always leader on the burn rate charts.

If you want a good dual purpose powder, I favor hodgdon's Clays

Burn rate is one carubleisticular  slower than Bullseye on the burn rate chart.

I wrote Hodgdon & they said shotgun only, saying it "does not have the proper chemistry nor porosity for pistol use".

I bought it by mistake.  Oh well.........

Thanks anyways for your help.
