Forearm screw

Can someone tell me what the thread size and length of the forearm screw is on the Handi? I lost mine today in the deer woods. Thanks, Charlie

I am going to look at Lowes tomorrow. I will let you know if I don't find one. Thanks, Charlie

While you're at it you might as well get one made for a common bladed screw driver instead of the philips. It a lot easier to work with in the field.

Length isn't a big issue, I've used ½", 5/8" and ¾" long screws. The oldest barrel that I have is 1991, it has the coarse thread pitch, I think only older pre-'87s used the fine threaded studs, both are listed in the FAQs for anyone that cares to look, there's even an alternate metric size to use in lieu of the ¼-28 screw compliments of MSP.  ;)

Charlie,

I have replaced mine with a 1/4-20 socket flat head screw, much easier to carry a 5/32" allen wrench in your pack/pocket than a Phillips or flat screwdriver. It is the same size as all my muzzleloaders use, so I have several wrenches.

This is exactly what I did as well!! I love the allen for these.

All the older screws I have seen have a slot, not a phillips head and yes the sixe is 1/4" x28tpi x5/8" long as MSP already said.

i like the hex head idea, its a pretty small tool to carry in your pocket....my topper has a slotted screw and a penny or a dime work for that in a pinch.......

The socket heats are better because your screw driver won't slip and gouge your wood stock...

I found some at Lowes 3/4" long. They are phillips but I have a phillips head on my multi-tool that I carry so I am good. Charlie
