Mast crop and Berry crop in Maine
« on: August 01, 2003, 08:50:08 AM »
I have been in the Sebec area and have seen "spotty " areas with a decent mast crop. It is in areas that i havent really seen a lot of nuts? The berry crop saeems to be later than usual. Another weird bait season comming up. Ive had a few hits on the bait sites allready but not like other years, its early.. Anyone else add their comments??

We seem to have plenty of berries up here but the bear are still coming in.  Never 100% though.  Drives your crazy.  One day they hit the bait then they skip a day at one of the sites but the next day they have hit the one they missed and pick another not to hit.  Doesn't do well for my chart.  I like all x's in there.

Since the spring was so cool and June and July so cold and wet, I imagine it will be another bait year where there is plenty of natural food and we just have to provide the sweets.  Good luck to you and all the baiters.
