For those of you that say "it can't happen here" Go read your history and see how it worked at a place called "kent State"
the nation that forgets it defenders will itself be forgotten

The ONLY appropriate use for troops inside the US is along the borders to prevent illegals from entering.

Before i decide good or bad, I want to see what the new civilian militia is
going to be doing and who is going to pull their strings.
I might want some of the pentagons crew stationed in my neighborhood.

don't get me wrong i am not for having armed troops in the street, BUT if i
have to have them i would rather it be the troops that volunteered to defend
this country, than a civilian militia paid for and told it came straight from obama.

Having a trained force guarding a nuke plant makes much more sence than a "rent-a-cop" (no offence to those who do security work). I have lived over in Asia and Europe, and having real military guard real military targets makes good security sence. We don't need them doing police force work, but hard target protection I agree with. This isn't the country living/leave the doors unlock land I grew up in anymore.
Just my opinion.

Spent the last few months in Germany waiting for the arrival of a new grandson. We stayed at Kelly Barracks, a USArmy installation in Stuttgard, The son was vacationing in the north-east mountains of Afganhistan at the time. While we were there the DOD opened a new unified Command down the street from us. It's called Africom, and attends to matters on the continent of Africa. ALL services are represented and full bull Colonels, Navy and Coast Guard Captains are sent out on coffee runs. From what the troops told me, we are in a world war and its being fought in non-traditional ways. The son was sent home for the birth and was wearing a pony tail and full beard when he arrived. Seems as though the friendly natives in those mountains shoot at people who don't look like them!  We need our military where the problems are now, or we WILL be using them here. As for placing them on the boarders...The first George Bush had DOD do a study during his term as president to see what it would take to seal just the Mexican border. I won't go into all of the details, but according to the study it would have taken all of the men and women in uniform at that time to include the Reserve and National guard. Then DOD stated that any Mexican with a row boat could defeat that effort by rowing around the end of the fence at either end. This was before the Bush and Clinton force draw downs. Remember history, look at the maps of our coasts and borders and ask yourself how you would close them.

No quote my friend, personal experiance. About the DOD study, it was published in Air Force Times news paper, and Stars and Stripes. For some reason the mainstream media didn't pick it up. I'll try to locate a reprint for you.
