B78 22-250 Value?
« on: December 29, 2008, 05:04:10 PM »
I have the chance to pick up a very nice B78 w/ Bausch & Lomb Elite 4000 scope.  Nice bore, wood, blue etc. I would say the gun is 98%. The scope appears to be valued at around $400. I am wondering what the rifle is worth? Price is $1150 firm on the package. Your help is greatly appreciated.

That's not an unreasonable price but it's not a steal either. The B78s at least around here never seemed to take off as well as the HW/LW rifles did. They sell or I have seen them sell here as cheaply as $600 to around $800. The scope is not worth $400 especially seeing as how you say it is an Elite 4000 rather than an Elite 4200 which are the newer ones. An E4000 has to be quite a few years old. I'd place a more realistic value of $225-$250 on it.

Thank you I appreciate the input and value your opinion. I actually did a trade for it instead today. It worked out to a value of a total of $950, that is what I figured I had in the two Ruger revolvers that I traded. Every thing on the B78 and scope is perfect. Just one small (hard to see) dimple on the stock. It must of had some trigger work, nice crisp 2 lb. release on it. Always wanted one of these ;D Thanks again...
