I think I'm going to pick up a Sporter tomorrow and was wondering what a good price is for one? It will be a 17 HMR (didn't have a 22). How long will it take for me to get a new bbl for it(from SE Kansas)? What brand or ammo are you guys liking? Will i be able to put a by-pod on this(i like by-pods)? 

Any other info will be welcome

Latest delv Walmart price I saw was $169. Call Remington and let them tell you how long for a new one fitted. If you buy one from the classifieds you should expect shipping any where from 5 days to 2 weeks 5days or less is priority mail. I like the Hornady ammo.Depending on what bipod mount you have they work fine I use the type that mounts to the sling stud.Kurt

Do these have an extractor or an ejector?  That is what SWH priced one for me.  Don't quite understand the classified stuff?

Maybe I misunderstood . I thought what you were going to do was buy the 17HMR then send to factory to have a 22 bbl installed on it also. The classifieds are the for sale ads that are in the NEF/H&R forums. and sometimes you can find a barrel there for sale and install it yourself rather than getting one from the factory. So far to date they are still ejectors . Kurt

  I just went to my local Dick's Sporting Goods store the other day. I guess they don't normally stock NEF but they will order them. They ordered me a .17 HMR for $140. They said the management says to quote 4-6 weeks time before it comes in but lately they've been coming in a lot faster than that.

 I picked one up to day for $150(OK my dad did). Still need a scope, I'm thinking about a 3-9X40 or so. Butchering a pig tomorrow but will still try to shoot it.
