Busy gun show today
« on: December 06, 2008, 04:20:26 PM »
Took Daughter #1 to the Tanner gun show in Denver today. In all the years I've been attending gun shows I have never seen one so busy.  We were there at opening and there were two separate lines - both easily triple or quadruple the length of normal lines.

The lines normally go away fast but when we left 2 hours later there was still one line and it was much longer than a norm line at opening, probably triple.

Someone claimed gun sales are up 380% since the election.

Although gun dealers are busy, the guns that seem to be flying out the door the most are EBR's and handguns.
I would opine that even folks not normally gun owners are buying, while the "gettin' is good".

My local gun dealer cannot stock ARs fast enough.  What you are seeing is a glimpse of what "Prohibition" was like.

Our's was packed Saturday & Sunday.  Parking was tough and a 20 min. wait to get in.

Word on the street is that posession of anything with a removable magazine will be illegal.  I figured that's where it was going.  The only thing I have left with a removable mag is my 10-22.

you'll believe anything someone behind a counter says don't ya? ::)

First off your average man on the street is a complete idiot and cannot even tell you who was president after Kennedy or what the three branches of government are.

You'll not see possession made illegal in our lifetime that involves kickin in doors shooting folks and throwing people in prision. IF anything gets passed <nothing as of yet the Oboma administration hasn't even been sworn in yet> the transfer of such weapons is what will be what they go after. Meaning I'll have mine and you won't Ha Ha

I have very good sources.

Unless you're an Obooma administration or DNC insider you don't have very good sources.

last time an "assult weapon" ban was passed...it was still legal to own, shoot, buy, and sell all of those guns and mags inside these borders...they were already here.  When the word came out that no more mags over 10 rounds could be "manufactured"...there was enough time to fill the warehouses with them, I think they are still full.  Then if you add to that, that companies inside these borders could manufacture those same types of weapons....I guess that assult weapon ban didn't mean a whole lot.  Now of course I don't like any kind of ban....but let us hope that IF a law gets passed...that it is a worthless law designed to make the anti's feel good by the name of it...and nothing too bad if you actually read it.  It's all we can hope for.
Hopefully...Obama and pals already know how stupid the American people are,  and will try to keep us gun people happy....for future votes of course.  That's what Clinton did.  He even put a time frame on his ban.    I already had a couple of "those" kinds of rifles and some mags for them,  can't see no reason to buy more than I could carry anyway.  I probably would grab the 30-30 first anyways for most things.

BTW...our large gun shop/shooting range a few miles away has been selling lots of guns, business is way up...but the shelves and rifle racks are FULL...they have no problem stocking them.  They are bringing in more guns by the truck loads.  Ammo shelves are full too, no problem getting more of that I guess.
They do not sell reloading there though.
