barrel length?
« on: December 05, 2008, 07:15:15 AM »
Having a brain phfffffffffffft.

Barrel length.  If 16", I can shoot as a pistol OR as a carbine, correct?  If barrel is under 16", cannot shoot as a carbine.  If barrel is over 16.25" cannot shoot as a pistol, correct?

Steve :)

P.S.  I have probably answered my own question on here, but having a brain lapse.........I mean phfffffffffft.

No upper limit to pistol length barrel according to federal specs.  Some states have some silly rules evidently.  So a Contender barrel any length over 16" can be used either way by federal regs.

I hate it when that happens.  Brain fizzzzzzzle.
Carbine barrel cannot be shorter than 16".  Most people make to 16.25" so clearly legal.   Pistol barrel may be regulated by state.  FOr what I want, 16.25" will be perfect to set up as a pistol, or as a rifle (just have to be careful with scope choice)

Steve, I use and love the S-16 barrels quite a bit in 22lr, 22mag, .221Rem, 30-30Win, 45/.410, 45-70 and an 18" 6mmTCU all in pistol configuration.  Most of them double as carbines too, but mostly as pistols.  I have rifle scopes w/ see-thru sights on both rimfires, open sights on the 45/410 and 45-70 and a red dot on the 30-30 which allows me to use'm both ways.  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  ;)
