mine is a 23" rifle barrel..but I can't imagine why a 16" barrel wouldn't be a shooter..could use both as a pistol and a carbine barrel.  Love the round..low recoil..super accurate..I'm told deadly with the right bullet..haven't drawn blood with mine yet.

This caliber has quite a reputation for miss-fires(chamber vs. cartridge length) with factory ammo.  If you reload proper resizing cures the problem.  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt  :)

Thanks for the info. guys. Do you think the tapered barrel will shoot as good as the bull barrel?

I wouldn't feel handicapped with the tapered barrel as opposed to the bull barrel while hunting..I actually like the weight of the bull barrel myself..seems to settle the barrel down some, but I think the difference would only matter when shooting from the bench.  I have a 16 1/4" 7-30 stainless tapered barrel that shoots extremely well..better than I can hold.  If weight is an issue with you, go with the tapered barrel.
