Browniing Short trac in .308 win. ?

 I went to the local store a few hours ago and there it was, a Browning short trac in .308 win. What a funny looking rifle untill I picked it up ! I walked out with order in my hand.
    Any of you guys ever shoot,use one in .308 ? What experiences do you have ?
  The fever is about to go away and I've calmed down a little after the fact. I'm just certifiable when I get around certain rifles. I can"t shake it even after 55 yrs. It's about a lb lighter than my other bar in o6. 8)

I was looking at that rifle on the Browning site today. Looks differant but is light and claimed to be very accurate. 6 pounds and 10 ounces. Not bad. The magnums are heavier. The 308 would be my pick.

I have a camo 308 shortrac that shoots MOA with 150 grain Remington Corelokts.  I have a 3-9X40 Trijicon Accupoint and I couldn't ask for a better whitetail rig.  I have yet to have any issues with it and would highly recomend it as a hunting rifle.

Contratulations, you can't go wrong with a Browning.  I have seen them at gun shops, but the style really didn't do much for me.  But my sense of taste is in my mouth, so what do I know... Then I started hearing from people who owned them that they handled great, and shot even better.  Pretty much exactly what you want a rifle to do..

So let us know how it shoots..

Gunblast.com was pretty negative about them. Then, last weekend, I was in a local Gander Mountain and handled one for myself. I really liked how it felt, and was quite impressed with it. Keep us updated with how it feeds and functions.

I'm less concerned with accuracy, as long as it's not horrible, than with reliability.

Correction, that was Chuck Hawks. He didn't like the styling, but said nothing about the functionality.

Also, how is the trigger?

The trigger is pretty crisp and I would estimate it at 4-5 lbs.  Initially I had a Shortrac in 300 WSM.  It shot just as well as my 308, but I decided that I did not need the extra power of the 300 for a whitetail rig and traded for the 308.  For a hunting rifle, I think you would be hard pressed to do better.
