Pistol Caliber Carbines

I know that some states that previously only allowed shotguns and muzzleloaders have legalized the use of pistol caliber rifles.  I was wondering if any attempt has been made to change that law to permit this in michigan's shotgun zone.  I know that it is not legal at present, but I would love to be able to use my 357 maximum encore barrel during the firearm season.

I haven't heard anything about proposed changes, but I don't see why they shouldn't allow it.  Muzzleloading rifles probably have even greater range I would think.  I unloaded my Huntsman at the end of the season by smacking a target at 300 yards.  I'm into big bore ballistics and knew what the drop was going to be.  I've got a .357 mag barrel on order for my Handi Rifle to go with my Blackhawk and replace my .30-30 as my saddle rifle.  I'm on the U.P.

Don't worry about front stuffers , there was a court case that started the whole thing , a 30-06 rifle , a shotgun with slugs and a muzzle loader were tested for down range damage potential in the case of a missed shot . The study said that a missed and deflected shot by a slug gun and ammo had more energy and destructive force down range and went farther than either of the other two. the court case stated that slugs had been allowed with out testing and data to validate the choice . which testing proved to be a bad choice in their opinion . It would seem logical that many states will be revaluating laws soon .

Chris....U can use any straight wall cartridge 357 or bigger in shotgun zone in eather a single shot scope encore or a scope revolver, no bottle neck cartridge!!! Has to be a hand gun only though.

i agree with shootall. Your situation down state is bs! modern slug guns and muzzleloader have more power and shoot flatter then about 50 percent of the centerfire rifles guys carry up here. It is an antiquidated law that should have been changed years ago.

there was a large buck taken in the southern portion of mi. at 350 yds with a modern inline. how many 30-30s will do that.

I have a marlin 1895 CB lever rifle  in 32 H & R mag.I would love to try on deer in S.Michigan.
