:D I was thinking about getting an NEF H&R Buffalo rifle  in 45/70. Is this a fairly good rifle. How are the triggers. The Sports Shop told me about  $320 to order it. Is that a good price?

Yes it is a good rifle  the triger pull is good and the gun shoots a lot better than me  IMR 3031 with a 405 gr bullet at a 6" target  at 100 yds get 5 in a row,   and the price is right too  :-)

And you can get other barrels for it.  NEF will do trigger work to get it down to 3 1/2 lbs. or you can go to Perklo's site: http://www.perkloafm.com/ and download the two Adobe files on cleaning up the trigger even more.

But, plan on changing the rear sight. Mine shot 6" low at 100 yds, no matter what ammo, or how I adjusted the rear sight. I just plain ran out of sight elevation at the rear!
Most have either gone to a Buffington style rear sight, or adapted the gun to accept a tang sight. I milled out some false tangs on my mill, and heliarced them to the top rear receiver. Then inletted the wood to fit, and mounted a good vernier. Some have drilled and tapped for target style scopes too.
I paid the same price for mine, and thought it was a good deal.

Yes, they will handle loads even hotter than the Cor-Bons such as the Garrets and Buffalo Bores.

Hey Marlinman, how about posting some pictures of your tang sight?  I use the Williams WGRS on my '06 as backup to the scope but your solution sounds more elegan!.

Put a 2X power scope on it.....dropped three nice whitetails with it.  Two flipped upside down and expired on the spot.  Tfhe third just looked around like, Hey! is some one shooting around here...then he walked off.  I couldn' believe that I missed.  After all the deer was at the base of the tree.  I listened and heard him fall over about twenty yards away. He was dead and did'nt even know it.  Tissue damage is greatly reduced.  Hate to practice with it....HURT'S.....but you know...ya never hear the shot or feel the recoil when hunting....It's my 100yd. and in riffle...

keesvw2002,
I'd love to, but I have two problems... Don't know how to post a picture here, and I sold the gun to a friend who wanted it badly. If I can find out how to post, I'll borrow it back, and post pictures.
