So cybin what you seem to be saying is that we have become too civilized. If so, then I agree. However, I have found those who "beat" the war drum are the least likely to go to war.
It would be best to not "telegraph" ones next move. Some whom claim much military experience, in the art of war, seem to be the most proficient telegraphers.
I am in no way directing my comments at you, so do not be offended. I am simply saying that I choose my allies based on character, and calmness, coupled with determination, and agree with you, the supply of these types seems to be dwindling, and seems to be replaced with megaphone types.

Cy bin, I have a feeling our military will be very ineffective if the country falls into armed revolt. The biggest problem in the military is that if the soldiers will be split as will the people of America. Some officers will be in support of the revolt, some will be in support of the government. The number one factor with the military in the revolt would be fratricide between soldiers. No officer will want to lead when at any moment one or more of his troops may kill him. If armed revolt comes to America it will be chaos.

I agree our gene pool has been severely depleted, the cowards are the ones running the show now. Heck we see the weakness even here at GBO. We have some who supported Obama as he told them he believes in the 2nd amendment. We have others here who cannot make up their minds in support of anything or keep their word. Yes with these people there will be only one thing, Chaos.

99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

cybin, you were absolutely correct, Posse Comitatus, not only does it NOT APPLY to the National Guard, but also NOT THE COAST GUARD.

I may be wrong, but I believe that most of the soldiers and sailors we have today, and I emphasize most but obviously not all, are honorable people.  I believe that most of those we would have to fear would rise up from the ranks of the civilian world.  The last thing I want to see is Americans killing Americans.  We tried that once, and it did not work too well.  In the midst of such chaos, we would become sitting ducks to our external enemies, many of who lurk among us.

I pray to God there is a way out of this mess without taking up arms.  I will be the last to load my musket, but if I do, I will choose my associations VERY carefully.

In our last civil war the people in the military had the same very hard choice that I think any people have when choosing a side knowing that killing will result. Never a easy decision. Lets hope it doesn't come down to any Americans making that decision. But if it comes down to having to make that decision I'm sure that the officers and men will follow their conscience irregardless of their not knowing for sure who is really with them and who is against them.

And as for officers not knowing if their own men can be trusted not to kill them, well a officer always faces that problem. During the peak years of the Vietnam War some graduating classes from West Point had 97 percent casualities. The army knows that the majority of those casualities where not enemy inflicted, and were going to try to correct the problem of their officers not relating to the men they lead.

Saying that though--if the opponents to the 2nd admendment know before hand that there could be armed resistance, (and lets face it--another civil war will destroy our country if it last longer than a few months) they might not be so eager to start something of that magnitude.

As for not being vocal about where you stand (it does draw attention to you, and might cause a lot of problems), you have to realize that by being quiet the opposition will feel emboldened. A lot of voices sounding off together many times silences the opposition without there being confrontations, or at least make the opposition move a bit slower than they would like to. No one---left wing or right wing (I think) would want to do anything so stupid as to pollorize our population and set in motion events that would lead to a cival war. The last civial war was terrible enough, we don't need another.

I didn't vote for Obama... but now that he's the President-elect, I will "wait and watch", but rest assured, I have ALREADY made MY "decision"... made it many, many years ago.

The country is more polarized now than I have ever seen in my pretty long lifetime. The media have convinced folks that this is because conservatives just won't go along. As I see it we have moved so far left that we resemble what the democrats were 20 years ago. I don't see that there is much more compromising that our side can do before we loose what our country is about, and become just another failed experiment in socialism
