Win. mod. 95, 30-06 Lever conversion?
« on: December 19, 2002, 12:38:57 AM »
Anybody know if a .30-06 Win. mod. 95  (modern Jap) can be easily converted to .405 without a lot of action work.  Also, if this is feasible,
who to contact to do the work?  Have an opportunity to pick up one
for a reasonable $650.  I know they are out in .405 but haven't seen one for sale.

Hmmm. Would probably be cheaper to rebore or rebarrel for the .411Hawk. It's ballistics are about the same but it has the '06 case head. For the .405Winchester, there would have to be modifications to the bolt face at least. Then a rebore or rebarrel would be needed. Then again, you might wait until you find a Ruger #1-H in .405Winchester! RKBA! 8)
