CONTENDER 45/70 - CARBINE FORE ARMS
« on: December 16, 2008, 05:02:57 AM »
Hello,

I have a original contender and it is currently set up with a wood buttstock and forearm and a 16" TC custom shop barrel in 7-30 waters. - I want to put a 45/70 barrel on it, but before shopping around, would like to know if there are any fitment issues with the fore end that I currently have. Will a 45/70 taper or bull work with it? I'm guessing a bull won't - Also, what about a muzzle loader barrel - What is ava for this rifle?

A factory tapered fore end will not fit a factory bull barrel...

You will have to buy the correct fore end...

I have 1 factory tapered, 3 T/C Custom Shop tapered barrels and 1 factory bull barrel and 1 Custom Shop bull barrel and have to have both tapered and bull fore ends to fit properly.

So yes you will need a new fore end...
