browning abolt and xbolt stocks
« on: October 19, 2008, 10:34:59 AM »
I want to get a better stock for my abolt and xbolt but can't find anyone that makes one.  I want one that has a solid bedding block rather than the way Browning has them fitted into the stock, which is not the most accurate way of bedding an action.  Anybody have suggestions.

I see after-market A-Bolt stocks for sale at some of the larger mail order companies, midwayusa,Cabelas, Brownells. I think they are Bell&Carleson stocks & usually for a 'long action'. The other option is one made to order from an outfit like wenig or other stock making operation. I would think they have all the measurments to make a stock for any gun out there. The less expensive option is to tinker with the one you have.

The composite stock on my .300 Winchester A-bolt Stalker showed one of its advantages last night.  It was really easy to wash the blood off after the scope busted my nose. :'(

Ouch!  Been there and done that as well.  Blood comes off Ruger composite stocks pretty easy too. ;D
