My idea on buying a muzzleloader was to get something simple, reliable, good without breaking the bank. So far I feel like I've done a pretty good job (with alot of help from you guys).
I bought a Knight Disc Extreme NIB for $275 shipped to my door
Leupold QR (medium height) rings AND bases $35 shipped to my door
Few minor things: powder measure, 777, lube, etc = $50
Next on the list is a scope. I've had 4x32 Tasco's on my 22 lr and mag's for years and it seems like they stay set pretty well, when used in good mounts and rings. In looking at the Tasco's there is a 2.5x32 option available now. Do you think the extra light brought in by the reduced power would be worth it, or would it be better to go with the higher power scope? Also debating on variable power scopes, thought I would probably get a stronger scope in this price range by staying with a fixed power scope (no real money difference). What do ya'll think? I kindof liked the idea of the 2.5 power, but may not once I start having to shoot paper at 100 yards...
Do you think something like this is suitable for a muzzleloader or should more money be spent?
I found some floor model 3-9x40 Nikon ProStaff scopes for like $135, but am just trying to stay simple and cheap, since the gun won't be shot very much...
