I was born in Rock Springs, Wy. My Great Grand Father and family created or owned Point of Rocks, Wy. Which the mud and rock homes are still visible from I-80 to the north. Anyway I have never checked this story out. Sherrif Jim Wilson, a writer for Shooting Times refered to the "wild Bunch" in a past mag. and stated that "Butch" may have survived the South America shoot out.
When i returned from over the pond from an unpopular war, my father brought me up todate on my grandfathers demise and item of interest to the family.
My grandfather was a deputy sherriff for sweetwater county, and worked for the uppr at the same time. It seems that some time in the late 40's to early 50's he made a personel loan to a man my dad believes was "Butch" and that he went on to Calif. We don't know if the loan was repaid. We do know That my great grand father ran the pony express station, store, post office, raised goats and provided fresh horse's to the wild bunch.
He didn't trust banks probably as he did not want to earn his own money twice.
