Hybird 100 powder in a 6.5 jdj

I used to use a lot of IMR 4350 in my 6.5 jdj and at max loads it compressed the powder a lot--you could hear the crunch all the way down.  Has anyone tried the new Hogden Hybrid 100 in the 6.5 jdj.  It is supposed to have a similar burn rate compared to 4350 and it might require less compression.

Don't know but it sounds dangerous let me try for you.  just send it to me and I promise to return it once its been tested on the range and a few critters.  you'll get it back promise

I've always used IMR 4320 in mine and never had any reason to try anything else.  My max loads are case filling but not compressed.  Of course 4350 is slightly slower and a max load may have a little more volume.  GOOD SHOOTIN', WALT 

Never tried the Hybrid 100 in anything.

You need to consider that burn rates can be considerably altered by a number of factors; case size, expansion ration, bullet weight, etc. so they are never a reliable method to determine substitutablity.  Most burn rate charts you will find will specifically warn you not to use them to make powder substitutions or something to that effect.

If you really want to try Hybrid 100, I'd say call or email Hodgdon direct and ask if they have a recommendation and can give you a starting point.

Good idea!  Doubt the 6.5 jdj is important enough to have been tried but these guys should know if it has potential.
