This is one of those feel good, do nothing laws, the anti gunners like. I live in Ohio, and as of right now, we have a very gun friendly governor, AND, a Democrat. If the state of Ohio doesn't pass a law like this, and say, Kentucky does, does that mean that anybody buying Ohio ammo, and crossing over into Kentucky is breaking the law? And, who is going to enforce this law! The local police,BATF, FBI, or that new security force Obama says we need. It's just their way of slowly getting the guns. gypsyman

This bill was tabled by committee in Alabama.  Basically it is dead here unless it is brought up in committee again.  Don't think it would pass here.  Governor would probably veto it anyways.

But just in case, it might not hurt to bone up on the use and operation of a flintlock ;D

Have you guys who use lead bullets to reload ever tried to imprint a number or something on the bottom, recover the bullet, and see if it is still there?  It would be interesting.

You could even cast solid copper bullets from old water pipe.  However the melting point of copper is 1984 degrees F, but if you had cast iron (steel) molds, it would handle the temperature.  It would be similar to Barnes TSX bullets.  Map gas can melt copper water pipe.

Could also press or pour lead into small pieces copper tubing to make jacketed bullets.

Anyone willing to try these ideas to see?

Beat me with a stupid stick but the idea just hit me. You all have seen videos or film of the gun the modern whalers use. It is a Cannon looking gizmo that fires out that harpoon which is an oversized arrow. Yes, I know it has a time delayed explosive head.

OK, so you find a arrowwith diameter that fits your bore or very close, anyway you put a very light charge of Unique or TB or whatever in the case, put a cotton ball over the powder to hold it in. Strap that rifle down on something and attach a longish fishing line to the trigger just in case. I bet you can get some spectacular velocities with that arrow and no, you don't need vanes on it either if the head has some weight to it and you might even get some spin on the shaft itself.

I don't understand this and don't want to read every linked piece of legislation on that page. Can you summarize why reloading ammo is in some kind of danger?

no arrow needed.
have you ever seen an Enfield .303 british with wire wrapped up the forend?
That is what the wire is for! To reinforce it to throw "Rod Grenades"!
A long rod slides down the bore with a grenade attached to the end.
insert a blank "Grenade firing" cartridge, place the rifle butt on the ground
and instant trench mortar. copy and paste the link to view one.

I am pretty sure I have seen pictures on using a 12 gauge shotgun to launch improvised mortar shells.
