Who all went hunting today with just their hand cannon? I left the house at 4 a.m. this morning for a quick early morning hunt. Look like it would rain any minute. Got to the woods in plenty of time to walk the half mile to my stand. Everything was going good until I got to the tree where I had left my stand. It was gone!!!! Needless to say I was upset, really mad. Where was my stand. It was dark, only a small flash light I was getting madder by the minute. Well I took a couple of deep breathes and counted to 100. I felt better. Now where was the stand. I had and idea who moved it. Bill had been hunting in the swamp about a 100 yards west. I headed that away and there it was. I got in the gunslinger and up the tree I went. Everything settled down and I felt good. I enjoy getting in the stand early, I like watching the woods wake up. Nothing was moving until a little after 9 then I saw my first deer, a big doe. Did I want to shoot her, yes, no, well maybe if she would only get a little closer. Then I caught site of another one. This one turned on to be a spike. He was only about 25 yards from me. As I was putting the cross hairs on the doe I heard something to my right and when I turned I saw the spike running off. Bad Luck when I looked back the doe was gone too. Then I heard it, What's up Nimrod. I looked down and there was Bill. I could have shot him. Would you believe he said he saw my truck parked in the back of the field and wanted to come and let me know he have move my stand. Bill is a real smart guy. He even and an engneering degree, I think it was a mail order. Oh Well. Now for some fun. Lets go load the dogs and get some birds.
