i have 2 handi rifles sidekick,tracker II,my question is the synthetic stock more corfortable than the standard pallet wood stocks.seems the wood stocks are thicker in the grip.an the synthetic look thinner in the grip.whitch seems to be more comfortable.thanks

    I'll take wood over plastic any day given the choice, but that's just me.

I got a couple of sets of the early Laminated wood sets and they were skinny in the handle and are much better in the hand than the later fat ones. Some day I might get a wild hair and fixem all. Kurt

kawie , IMHO any store bought stock is somewhat of a compromise in some way or the other. Rather it fits

or not often depends on our height , build , the size of our hands , the length of our neck & other factors.

We often find out how important this is when we get heavily involved in shotgunning & that's why some put

 really big bucks in custom fitted shotgun stocks.  I don't put big money in my rifles for 2 reasons (1) I don't

 have big money  (2)  I'm going to replace the stock later with something that fits me better.  I have found

 that the Boyds thumb hole stock fits me as if it where made for me ( don't own one yet).  I suggest you go

 to gun stores, pick up guns , shoulder them ,  shoot other peoples rifles , & just get all the experience you

can to decide what you need & like .   good luck           Jim

thanks to everyone that replied.id rather have wood too(thumbwhole stock)but my creatore decided to make me backwards(left handed) this is why im starting to like single shot rifles(easier to use for us backwards people) the extra cost of a left handed firearm never made sense to me (firearms already are exspensive)why pay more when u can live with something else.im just trying to make them fit me better.i just might do some sanding on the stock to fit me better.anyone sanded one of these to make them fit better.how did it come out.is there room on these stocks to make them slimmer.thank again

Personally, I like synthetic stocks.  They don't scratch and ding like wood, they don't hold moisture around the barrel where they're not finished and they are lighter to carry.  They are non-reflective.  Also, on heavy recoiling rifles, I can weight the stock with lead shot to absorb recoil.  The standard Monte Carlo synthetic fits me perfectly.  I'll be posting some wood stocks for sale before long in the classifieds.
