I have an older model 200 in .25-06, and it feeds just fine.

I have one of the older model Stevens 200 in 7mm-08 and the bolt and feeding are buttery smooth.  It is so smooth that more than once I have opened the bolt part way to verify that it did pick up a round from the magazine (and it always has).  I have a couple of the newer center feeds (308 and 243) and they seem a little rougher, but also always reliable on feeding.

As to scope bases: I think all of the Stevens 200 have the newer round rear receiver (mine do), so any of the Savage short action scope mounts for a round rear receiver should work.

Hope this helps!

Mine's a new center feed model in .223. It seems to have a feed issue that is related to the angle of the magazine feed lips. The rear of the cartridge in the mag seems to be too low on occasion and the bolt skips over the top of the cart instead of picking it up and shoving it forward. I'm sure I can fix it with some careful bending of the mag lips, just haven't got around to it yet.

Also I believe the Stevens action will take the same base front and rear, if you're using a 2 piece base. I'm using a dual dovetail Burris 2 piece base set and Signature Series rings.

i went and bought the 7mm-08. i cleaned it well and lightly oiled all the metal parts. it feeds ammo very very well ,and it does feel smooth. the bolt feels smooth as well . the gun shop where i bought it kicked in some free bases, so i'm, putting on a simmons 3 x10 and really looking forward to shooting it.  thank's for all the help!!!
