Okay, I can be slower than the average bear, so forgive me in advance for what may prove to be a dumb question, but here goes. Given that these three cartridges are all straight wall, and share the same diameter, then I should be able to feed .454 Casull and .45 LC through a 45-70 barrel, correct? Am I missing something? If we've already had this conversation, I'm sorry.

You may of course ask why would I want to do such a thing, and I frankly can't answer that one, other than I'm cheap, and if I can get 3 for the price of one, I'll do it.

They are NOT the same diameter. A 45/70 is .458 diameter where as the 45colt and the 454 are .452 dia. You may be able to run them all through a 45/70 barrel but the accuracy on the smaller two will be dismal at best. It is my understanding that TC no longer offers the 45lc/410 barrel because some one figured out that a 454 would drop in because of the long throat. This may just be for the contender as I would think an Encore could handle it with no problem. But I'm not certain about that.  KN
