removing the cosmoline
« on: December 26, 2008, 12:33:54 PM »
I tore my MN91/30 down for a good cleaning tonight. I sprayed Break Free Powder Blast on all the metal components and it worked great. On the stock however are a few places where the cosmoline that was applied to the rings inside the sling cut outs ran out over the wood and set up like concrete.

Any ideas about how I can get it off without eating the finish off the stock?
Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?

You might try a blow dryer to soften it. I layed the stock out in the sun to get a lot of mine off.
Just need to keep tabs on it and wipe off the oil as it bubles.

It is like a recurring nightmare! It never goes away, It just keeps coming back over and over again!
