.223 Handi Can Shoot!
« on: January 01, 2009, 11:40:49 AM »
I had not shot my .223 Handi for over a year. I had it broke it down so I could fit it inside my safe.
I decided it was feeling neglected and took it to the range today. Much to my surprise it was pretty
close. I only put 50 rounds of my favorite load through it. I was shooting from a bench usuing
my rolled up jacket for a rest. I managed this incredible 3 shot group at 100 yards. I think I will
just leave it put together now. After getting it dialed in I had a blast dynamiting a bunch of
potatoes and 16oz water bottles out to 125 yards. If anyone out there is on the fence about
weather to get a 223 bull barrel Handi because they are not sure how accurate they might be
here you go!

Does the bull barrel make mush of a difference to avaerage casual shooter?  Also does a bull barrel take a different fore end?  Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Agustaranger!

Does the bull barrel make mush of a difference to avaerage casual shooter?

I can't answer that one because I have never shot a regular barreled
223. I do have a 22 Hornet Handi that has a standard barrel. The bull
barrel is noticeably heavier. If you were to carry both of them all day
long you would prefer the standard barrel. If you are just shooting at
the range or something like that where you won't be carrying it
around all day and you have to have maximum accuracy then the
bull Barrel is the way to go. It was a challenge to find the right
bullet/powder combination to get this kind of accuracy out of my
223 bull barrel. It has all been worth it though.

Also does a bull barrel take a different fore end?

The standard barrel and the bull barrel use the same for end. The fore end is the key
to making these rifles shoot. Go to the FAQ section and you will get lots of great
info on fore ends.
