Burris Signature Zee Rings

I just recieved a new SS barrel in 218 B from Bullberry.  I have seen quite a few posts on how good Burris Signature Zee rings are.  I ordered a set and recieved them.  On looking at them I wonder if I made the right decision.  First the thing is the cross bolt seems little on the puny side.  Also, does the right side that comes in contact with the base bend in or does flex in when tightened and back out when loosened.  I hope this does not sound to stupid of a question.  I have always used Weaver bases and rings in the past.

Not stupid at all.  Yes they flex to tighten up.  Mine have a diagonal cut in the bottom that allows them to compress against the base.

I have a set that are so tight I can't get them to expand enough to go on my Weaver base.  I've tried to put them on other bases as well. Any suggestions on how to spread them open.  Seems simple but it's stopped me from buying any more Zee Rings for that reason.

Tap a flat blade screwdriver into the slot to slightly spread the clamp, I've had to do this to a few, don't over do it tho, then it can be too loose. If they're too loose or hard to get tight, squeeze the clamp a little in a vise so they just slide on the base. If you use a small screwdriver, you can position it so you can spread the clamp and slide the ring on the base with the screwdriver in place, then wiggle it out after you have the clamp screw in place against the front of the base slot. I have over 30 rifles mounted with Sig Zees, they're my favorite Weaver style ring, Midsouth prices the matte under $29 regular price which is better than most sale prices elsewhere online.  ;)

I tried the Zee rings but I did not like the idea of bending them to fit them on the base. So I returned them and went with the Warne Maxima fixed rings.  The Warne rings are beefy with 4 Torx screws per ring.  Perhaps a bit more difficult to install with the separate cross bolt piece but I don't move scopes around.  - Phil
