Campfire pizza
« on: January 21, 2009, 01:56:54 AM »

Just a couple of pics of the pizza my friend cooked up on our annual winter camping trip.
He welded up a metal band to contain the coals on top of his huge 20" frying pan and it worked like a charm.

Try a cardboard box lined with foil next time. 3 sheets in the bottom with coat hangers poked through the sides for a rack. I watched my old man win a camp cooking contest with it about 20 years ago.

It does look very good...If you can fabricate something with greater depth, or even purchase a dutch oven, you can bake some great items ranging from Peach cobbler to cakes by using that technique of putting a few coals on the top of the lid.
