Modified chamber adapters in handi's
« on: December 28, 2008, 10:47:26 AM »
http://www.mcace.com/adapters.htm

Normally I scoff at the use of these apparatus but I've an intresting Idea. Could you install one of these in my case 32H&R in a 30-30 in a chamber perminately using red locktite but before doing so make a relief cut in the adapter so the fired cases would eject with a modified extractor?

I wounder if any kind of accuracy could be achieved if any?  I would really like to have a 327fed magnum long gun, of course there's the difference in bore size but as a handloader I can work around that,

I have a steel 22 hornet adaptor that I have used for years before I bought my hornet handi a couple years back. It worked quite well in an old Savage 219 I had. Accuracy was OK, nothing spectacular.

I'm sure it would work at least for a short time. I would say that the red loktite would not hold up to prolonged shooting sessions... but that just a guess.

Hope you have better luck than I did trying to contact the guy.

Over a period of about two years, and probably a total of a five or six times I've emailed him with detailed questions that would only require a one sentence response, and never gotten a answer, and I called him at least four times, at different times, but have always gotten an answering machine and I left messages, but still no contact....What's up with that?

I understand he is a guide in Alaska, and that this business is more of a sideline, but it seems if you run an add for a legitimate service on the internet and give an Email address, and phone number to place orders, you should at least attempt to answer inquiries, especially if you go through the trouble to place such an add.

I've since moved on from that endeavor, and I wish him well!

I called and talked to him once. He seemed like a nice enough guy. He said he works three jobs. You have to call him in the evening his time to get him. I was asking about the .22LR in a .223 at the time. He told me that was one of his most popular sizes and that he runs them off 500 at a time. I've yet to send my order off, just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe this week. It actually keeps slipping my mind.

Just something to think about, and it crossed my mind also, is before plopping down some hard earned cash that will be headed that way, is if he is that hard to get a hold of, and then only evenings, working three jobs, then when does he have the time to fill orders, and how long will it take to get your merchandise if and when you finally do get in touch with him, and place the order?

It's pretty low cost, so it's not that big a deal, which is what raises the red flags from my perspective.
