Get yourself a copy of cartridges of the world , I have the 8th edition but i dont know if it is the newest. It is 480 pages aned gives a little load data and a breif history on a very wide variety of cartridges . My personal favorites to read are the obsolete and wildcat cartridges.

Cartridges of the World is an excellent reference book for shooters of all kinds. If you find something on a used gun rack with a chambering that is completely unfamiliar, this book can usually give you the complete lowdown on what it is. I have an older edition ... or what's left of it. I need to get a new one. The original editor, Frank C. Barnes, is quite opinionated in some of his comments... but entertainingly so.
