Need a Moderator here any volunteers?

We've been without an active moderator here a long time. Who wants to step up and fill the void?

Bill,

I am not on as much as I used to be, but I would like to help out on this one as I have been a Ham radio operator for over 15 years.

Ozark,

I haven't heard if Bill wants me or not yet  ;D I am getting the house set up again so I can move into it. I have about 160 feet of rhon 25 to put back up as two 80 foot towers when I get to that part. I figure I will put a 160 flat top between them when I finally get them up next spring. I will have my 6m 2m 220 and 440 beams back up on them when they are done. Worse part about the house is there is a 140kv power line about 1/2 mile from me. I guess I will get to see how good my filters are on the HF rigs.

Thanks Greg, change has been made. It appears Phlanx has left the house.

Bill,

I will do my best. Sorry to hear that he hasn't been around, has anyone heard from him at all?

I sure haven't. At one time he was real active on the forums here but just stopped coming here. Someone said he is still active at other sites but just seemed to drop out here.

Ozark,

How do you like that K3? I have thought about building one, but right now I have enough on the bench as it is. I am using a TR4 most of the time, and a DX70th the rest. The crystal filters in the TR4 work pretty good, but I will find out how well when I get back on the air.

greg of all the rigs i have had or played with over the years the k3 is the one that delivers what the others promised. the recievier is one of the best in the world. the ten tec orion would be the next best. both are up convert rigs.( low freq. 1st if). it is easy to build a low freq. if filter. that takes a big load off of the dsp. as a result dsp on the k3 is more flexible and effective. i to like rigs that glow. the amp sitting beside my k3 is a old drake l7. i use a johnson kilowatt matchbox for feedline matching and balance.i use balanced feed almost exclusively. the current antenna is a 80 mtr.loop at 30 ft.height. i do have one vhf radio. a yaesu 1802 fm rig i won at a hamfest. 40 mtrs. has been good to me lately. so far this month i have worked the azores, germany, france, italy, england, Israel, fiji, japan, and tasmania. it is nice to finally be actve on hf again. the k3 has 6 mtrs in it and i will eventually get around to playing with 6. i will wait for a few more sunspots tho! if i start knocking my head again the desk i would be in real trouble shortly!! my papers from the asylum proving i am sane have expired! i answered some questions for 4b and i hope helped him thru the test! if i can help you in any way let me know.take care. 73's aa5ez
