Millett DMS
« on: January 07, 2009, 09:15:20 AM »
I just received my Millett 1-4x DMS scope.  It's going on my Colt AR which is what I primarily use for hog hunting.  It's pretty beefy with the 30mm tube and the glass looks pretty good.  There is some distortion around the edges at 1x but you don't really notice unless you look for it.  My 30mm rings were backordered so I'll have to wait a bit to get it mounted but I'll post more about my experience with it.

I ordered mine yesterday and it should be here tomorrow.  However I also ordered a CCA mount which won’t be here for 3 or 4 weeks (darn).  I’m gonna put it on a Sig556 and have heard nothing but good thing about the DMS.  Please let us know just how great it is on your AR.

Ok, got the rings in.  The Warne's were backordered for several weeks, so I had them send me the Burris tacticals.  Looks good mounted.  I can see the front sight if the scope is below 2x, but it doesn't bother me at all.  Eye relief is great (I don't have a rail extension to move it forward) and it clears my BUIS.  I'll post some pics and more updates once it's zeroed and I get to hunt with it.

Alright, some pics.

This is through the scope.  Not any easy picture to take.  It's a bit blurry, but you can get the idea.

Allright, this was the easiest bore-sighting job I've ever done.  I just mounted the scope and there....bore-sighted and ready to go to the range.  Once at the range it worked perfectly.  I think I'm going to like the donut-dot.  You can really get on target fast and at 4x it's reasonably accurate at 100yds.  I shot a 5 round 1.5" group.  The rifle is a bit better than that, but with a factory trigger and me being used to a 10x scope on it, I thought 1.5" was good for it's intended purpose.  Should be great as a hunting/self-defense scope.
