M1 CZ527
« on: December 30, 2008, 11:57:07 AM »
I'm looking for a light carry rifle in a 204. CZ says that this one weighs 5.7 lbs with the 3 round mag. Can anyone verify that weight for me? Most gun companies are flat out liars when it comes to listing the weights of their guns. How does the 527 shoot? Thanks. Dave

Two 527s here. .22 hornet full stock groups 44 grain cast bullets at about 1 1/2 minutes. Did better with jacketed bullets but making bullets myself is more fun!
Brought home a 7.62x39 carbine, was real happy, an accurate rifle that shoots cheap ammo! Uhh, one trip to the range with four diffrent types of cheap ammo, and it was time to get some dies. Shooting 113 grain flat point cast bullets and getting almost 1 1/4 minutes at 100 yards.
Both rifles are nice but the 5 round magazine in the 7.62 is big and somtimes gouges the back when carrying slung. The three round mag in 204 should be more comfey.
The hornet with manlicher type stock weighs just under 8lbs with burris short mag scope, light leather sling and empty magazine.
The 7.62 carbine with short stock and barrel weighs 7 lbs 2oz wearing leupold 2x7 leather sling and empty magazine.
Over all my opion is the accuracy is very good. I like walnut and blue steel so the materials are top notch. Fit and finish less than execellent but since I walk them in the mountians does not matter.

I found out that the M1 527 isn't available in 204-not yet anyway.  I sent CZ an email yesterday wondering if the M1 would be offered in 204 in the near future or if the 3 round mag would fit in the other 527's. Because of the holidays I don't expect an answer until next week.

I'm kinda thinking the three round mag will not fit other 527s without trigger guard modifications.
I have yet to catch the 204 bug.
I have 452 american in 17 M2. It's a good shooter if cleaned about every 50 rounds. Have made some fantastic long shots at ground squirrels with calm winds.
But calm winds are rare here and the 17 bullet often makes no dust or other sign when it lands in the grass. With .22 lr it is much easier to see misses and correct.
With four .223s around my place, the .204 is cool but not cool enough for me to buy one. But I have serious intrest in .22-250 with 1-8 twist barrel. Those 75 grain A-max should buck some wind and reach.

When it comes to Plastic stocks the weights are usually on.
The 204 may be a little heavier than the 223 as there is a smaller hole in the steel tube.
With wood stocks, no two wood stocks weight the same as each blank has a different density.

I went to one of my favorite gun stores today and we weighed a wood stocked 527 chambered in 204. These are advertised to be 6.3 lbs or 6 lbs 4.8 oz's. This particular gun weighed 6 lbs 6 oz's. Not bad!. I like these little guns and I probably will end up with one. More than likely I will grow old waiting for the M1 527 in a 204 to come around. Dave

I have a 204 Varmint , 527 wood stock , blued.   It has been such a great surprise when it comes to accuaracy.   I will never regret my decision to own one.     Recently in Texas, I hit a couple of shots...while varmint hunting......185 yards plus, with a 32 grain bullet.....dead on...I mean spot.
I think this CZ 204 in a 527.....is pretty hard to top.
