Careful what you wish for I saw a show where Anthony Bourdain went to Mexico and had Iguana.
He eats almost everything and did not like it.  Called it a greasy nasty rubber band.
My thinking would be to use CB's as bullets out od a bolt action rifle.  Quiet, can reload, quickly for a second, and are powerful for the evil mini dragon.
If queit is not on the list then any of the 17's would be good.

I would think that a full grown Iguana would take at least a 454 Cassull, didn't any of you guys ever see "Voyage to the center of the earth"?

I was planning to use my Crossman single pump air rifle.   It was enough for a recent feral cat, single shot kill.

I wonder what they would put on the accident report if the guy with the car full of wild lizards ran off the road and hit a tree?   Tell that to Geico,  lizards made me crash my car.   ;D

Heck, a cave man would know better than to put cold lizards in a car and turn up the heat!

Can you imagine the look on the LEO's face when the lizard guy told him the story of the warmed up lizards!  ;D

I'm sitting here in CT in early February thinking "sounds like a good a reason as any to spend a little time in Florida."

What's the hunting regs in Florida for these iguanas and non indigineous snakes?  I imagine that they are considered varmints, not game animals.  Likely no set season, but I want to be sure.  A Florida state hunting license and landowner's permission may be all that's required.

Hay, the cold snap we had down here in southern Florida has killed a bunch of Iguana's.  They are falling out of the bushes everywhere dead.  We spent a couple of hours raking them up out of my friends back yard.

The cold snap also killed a bunch of the Burmese Pythons out in the Everglades.  Park personnel say half of the Phythons they have found after the cold were dead.  The other half were sluggish, but still alive.  The smaller snakes seemed to make out better.  They believe the smaller snakes could find cracks and holes to keep warm in.  Also invasive fish are surcoming to the cold, and dying off.

Nature has a way of righting the wrongs some people do.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

yes i have hunted and ate some of them. But we had a really cold spell so most in the clearwater/ bay area are dead.

This was in the paper: MIAMI - To some dogs, discovering a dead lizard in the yard is like finding a treat on the kitchen floor.

It also can be deadly.

A month after frigid temperatures killed reptiles all over South Florida, veterinarians are still treating dogs that may have contracted botulism by gnawing iguana carcasses.

The result: paralysis so severe that a few had to be euthanized.

Thousands of iguanas, like other cold-blooded creatures, froze to death during the freeze. Some dogs, mistaking them for chew toys, have shown classic symptoms of a disease so rare that most vets don't see a case for a decade.

"I think it's botulism, although it's nearly impossible to prove definitively," said Dr. James Dugan, a Pinecrest vet.

His clinic has treated several dogs suffering varying degrees of paralysis since the cold snap. All had munched on iguanas.

"Why they want to eat a rotten reptile that smells horrible and could kill you, I don't know," Dugan said.

Paralysis begins in the back end, then progresses to the front legs, and in some cases disables the diaphragm. At that point, dogs must be intubated so they can breathe, an expensive step that many owners can't afford.

In at least two such South Florida cases, dogs that couldn't breathe were euthanized.

Serious problems such as pneumonia also arise when paralysis affects the esophagus.

If you do hunt Iguana's there a spot you have to hit or they will run off. A .22cal airgun is best(i used a crosman 2200mag with 600FPS with a 16gr pellets) i have never had the cops called out when hunting them (i don't were camo in urban hunting) but even if you are somewere were you can shoot people can and do call the cops on you went hunt.

I know someone that was hog hunting and he stop for gas and there was some blood and the pigs head sticking out of the back. Well someone passing by call the cops and they held him for 3 hours asking him all kinds of things(he had some cotoye pelts to and they kept asking " who dog did you kill" )

so use stealth if you hunt non-natives. I have a guitar case, soft pool cue case ,golf bags/cases ,Luggage, and other non gun cases to move my long guns in a urban hunt. I use a Easton Redline Sports Bat Bag in  Pink to move to the woods here in tarpon which are 2  miles outside of town with my air rifles and never had  any problems. Yes, the wood area you can probby shoot at(there tons of case and shot shell out there and lots of shot up stuff) but i shoot a airgun so i am ok. also the closes place there might be some people is about 1/2 mile from that area.

jamaldog87, thanks for posting that info.  I think a guy carrying a pink sports bag into the woods would make me suspicious.  LOL

I suppose if you carry along some air rifle targets with holes in them in case someone asks, you could just be target practicing.  intersting about the dogs getting sick chewing on those dead lizards, sad.  Poor dogs.  That cold snap sounds like a good thing down there in S. Florida.  Very fortunate to have had that cold weather..

When i was younger i had my slingshot and i was walking along the a old dirt road. When i came to the end of the road someone must have saw me with my slingshot(i used up all my ammo and there was no band on it) cuase the cop ran me down 1 block away. They let me go and told me you can't shoot off anything within city limts in FL. I asked why they send 8 cop cars, you know what i got back? they said someone saw a black man that was armed shooting in the woods.  So, stealth is what i use now and i have had no probelm all these years.

Most people are not the smart like use outdoors people. If they see a young person with a guitar case over his back with a yellow backpack on rideing a bike at noon they think i am going to school or i going to play my guitar.

You do have a point.  Most people are not paying much attention at all to their surroundings.  So, a  backpack, or some type of common bag that is large enough to conceal a firearm will usually work.   It is only the outdoors folks, or LEO's that are going to notice it otherwise.
