The TC Treehawk has a 1 in 20" twist in that short barrel which is 20-21 inches long. Thus with this twist configuration conical bullet`s would be your chose. I have tried several types in my Treehawk. The best so far was the Hornady Great Plains . Shooting pellet`s in this barrel( I assume you have a rifle barrel) would probably be not be a good idea with this particular barrel. TC made a shotgun barrel for the Treehawk in a 12 gauge with choke inserts. The combination of barrels is a plus as switching barrels expands your capabilities as to what game you might want to hunt.

The TC Maxiball is another good projectile for this rifle. I have as mentioned above the Treehawk with a .50 cal.rifle barrel and the shotgun barrel in 12 gauge. Also have the same combination of barrels for my TC New Englander!

I like the Treehawk as it is great for treestand use and also in close quarters in thicket`s.

b44,
I might have misunderstood your reference to pellet`s in your post. I was thinking of shogun pellet`s in my reply to your post. If you were referring to powder pellet`s than the answer would be "yes". I alway`s use Goex black powder (2F).
