ms, the 19C is Compensated, while the 19 is not. The slide and barrel have ports cut in the top of them to allow gas from the fired round to exit out the top of the barrel/slide and help to hold the muzzle down and reduce recoil. It does make the gun louder and increases muzzle blast. It might not really be necessary on a 9mm. MI VHNTR
