This might be of interest for anyone experiencing poor grouping with their rifles, all calibers. I have recently started started having this problem with my rig, an OE 308 stainless topped with a VXIII LR 6.5x20 and Burris Signature Zee rings. I narrowed the the problem down to a heavy layer of "paint coating" on the scope base. The coating layer basically turned to powder where the rings gripped the base. There was enough movement to feel a very slight click when I rocked the scope side to side. I ordered an EABCO one piece rail and had my smithy redrill the base to align with the hole spacing of the OE barrels. Note the EABCO base is apparently only drilled for a Kodiak, I think. Anyway, my accuracy level is back to where it belongs, pushing hi bc 155's downrange and easily taking jack rabbits, fox, and coyotes to 400y and beyond.
