Corner Lot, Bad Drivers (A**holes) need help!

My wife and I live in a nice neighborhood on a corner lot.  We have had problems with people making the corner turn too quickly so they cut through the grass (which is technically not part of our property) but still looks ugly regardless.  We have it covered in sand to take away the muddy/dirt look and to see if that will show people we don't want them driving through that part of the yard.  Does ANYONE have any suggestions to stopping this from happening, besides putting up theese ugly white posts that make your yard look like a land-mark?  Thanks to any suggestions!  We have tried putting nails/screws there but they don't work, and plus that just is too obvious.  Seriously this is destroying the corner of our lot and it looks trashy.

A pictures of the lot, the approach from the direction of the trouble, and the surrounding neighborhood would be helpful.  In the alternative, you could:
1. use landscape boulders,
2. appeal for speed humps across the roadway,
3. install a raised curb,
4. use concrete pyramid landscape cones,
5. do nothing,
6. fill the area with pea gravel, which is more user friendly to smooth out.

Are any of these appealing?

Your establishment of a semi-permanent object or objects (mail box, bollards, trees, fence, etc.) in the public right of way subjects you and your property to punitive damages if some idiot hurts themself or their vehicle there even due to their own neglegence.  Go figure.

a friend had the same problem he put in 6 big rocks then put a vine to grow on them stopped the problem and it looks real nice to D Crockett

Landscape boulders.  They might hit it once, but they'll learn.

Thanks for the suggestions all of you.  I'm going to try the landscaping boulders/rocks.
