scope mounting help
« on: April 15, 2009, 02:53:47 AM »
I ran into a mounting problem with my T/C Thunderhawk.  This is not my first scope mount but the first time I've run into this problem.  When I went to sight in the gun, I ran out of windage adjustment.  I ran the scope windage all the way to the left, but the gun was still shooting to the right.  How do I correct this?  I'm thinking some kind of shim between the mount and the scope.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you put the rings in reverse position or the mount itself?

You can always switch to Burris Signature rings and a set of their offset inserts to align the scope with the bore.  ;)

Just a thought... did you reuse a scope from another rifle?  Did you mechanically center the crosshairs before you started shooting?  Could have been already to the left a good bit leaving you less minutes to dial in.

I had this problem last year with a 20x50 scope on a Rem 700.  The field of view was narrow and the scope ran out of internal adjustments.  Of course I could see this by looking thru the bore and then the scope.  You have a Muzzel loader.  I was lucky and switched the front ring to the rear and the rear ring to the front and now it is on Zero.  I have a Weaver style setup.
