Boar hog vs M/28 Finnish Mosin Nagant
« on: January 19, 2009, 08:30:26 AM »
The M/28 wins!! LOL!. Killed this boar stalk hunting on some of our land. He was quartering away and I shot him just behind the left shoulder with a 203 grain Silver Bear bullet and it exited at the base of his neck on the right side. Shot distance was only about 35 yards. He dropped at the shot and never got up again.

Nice pig. Can you post the weight?  Have you tried the Wolf Gold 180 grainers for hunting?  -AimHigh

We didn't weigh him but the general opinion was about 200 or a little over.

Wolf Gold, which is made by Prvi Partisan by the way, shoots the best out of all my other Mosin Nagants but I have yet to have the chance kill anything with them. This particular rifle shoots all other ammo way high but shoots the 203 grain Silver Bear dead on at 100 yards.

Now that's what we all should be doing with our mil-surps.  Way to go.  Congrats.  Mikey.

those 203gr Silver Bears will do a number on a hog.  I've killed a few hogs with my M44 shooting the 203's.

good to hear because I have about 10 boxes of Silver Bear 203's stockpiled for hunting.  Glad to see that they perform.

I want a hog

I purchased the russian barnaul 203gr sp bullets when they were just $4.95 a box of 20.  I knew they would do the job for sure.  Thats all i use when i take a 7,62x54r out on a hunt.(tokarev/m39)

Nice pig.  Great photograph.
I would have guessed between 200 - 225 lbs.
