I called H&R this morning and spoke to a fellow. I wanted to see if they
received my frame yet for fitting a 357 Mag Barrel. He said it is was not in
the system yet, so he couldn't be sure if it arrived yet. Oh well. (Note to self:
Next time you send a frame into H&R to get a new barrel fitted make sure to
pay a couple of bucks extra get a confirmation of delivery. Less guess work
and hassle!)
I also asked him if they had any 357 mag barrels in stock. He checked
and came back to me and said they did, however it all depends on how
many orders for 357 Mag barrels were in front of me as to weather they
still had them available by the time they started working on my frame.
For example, if you are #20 in line to get a 357 Mag barrel installed on
your frame and they only have 15 ea. 357 Mag barrels, and by the way,
he had no idea exactly how many they had in stock or how many orders
there were for 357 Mag barrels ahead of me. There for, I have the
potential to be S.O.L. until more 357 Mag barrels come in, whenever
that is. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best. I sure
would like to see a better system in place here for the barrel accessory
program. (Better and faster communication with the customer. Faster
acquisition of barrels that are out of stock! 3 or 4 months for them to
get a particular barrel in stock so that they can fit it on your frame?
That is 100% unacceptable and 150%
in my opinion. In this day and age with
all the unemployed machinists in the country that are more than willing
to work, that the supplier either doesn't have the people capable of doing the work or enough orders to fire up the equipment and crank out the barrels necessary to fill these orders? You have got to be kidding me!) I'll get off of my soapbox now 'cause I know they just moved and things take time to settle in and work smoothly. I will try to stay positive and have patience with them.
It ain't easy though!
