Here's another online Google book that answers many questions I've seen on this board. It also has stuff I've never heard of, like the "copper flash pan" that I have to find out about somewhere else.
This book, digitized by Google, is an exception in that the plates are strung out though the text, so the guy at Google who was hired ot make sure none of the plates got into the digitized version seems to have missed them. I guess he only looks for plates to chop at the end of the book, which is the way books were nearly always done prior to the mid-19th C.
The book has a lot on naval cannon ammo, Dahlgren boat howitzers, broadside guns and carriages, pivot guns, etc. etc.
