If it's a handload I wouldn't shoot another guys handloaded round in my rifle.  If it's a factory produced round and you absolutely trust the guy, then just blast away.  If there is any doubts about anything, don't shoot those rounds.

you could pull them apart, saving only the cases.   ::) or ..
shoot them, punch paper targets.. ;D
more fun, so what if they are not as accurate as the 140's ;)

dont shoot someone else's handloads !  :o

I use them to foul the barrel after it's been cleaned...(If they are factory and not handloads)...

Try some short range rapid fire.

Wrong grain for what?  Does the box say something else?

I agree with everyone so far.

If you are SURE they're factory loads, use them as "fouling" shots to dirty up your barrel when you go to the rifle range with a clean barrel... OR... take 'em to the range the next time you go and shoot 'em.  They will probably give you slightly greater recoil that your 140 grain bullets... and their accuracy may surprise you.   :)

If they're handloads, take 'em apart and use the brass, discard the primer and powder.  Save the bullet in case you ever need to load a heavier bullet.  The "smart money" sez, "Never... NEVER... NEVER shoot someone else's handloads  in your guns !~!~!

The bullets won't charge you any "rent" just sitting there in your "junk box" on your loading bench.    ;D   ;D   ;D

I wouldnt loose any sleep over 8 rounds of any ammo. Shoot it and see where it hits in relationship to your normal load. At least then if you off hunting somewhere and need ammo and can only get the heavier bullets youll know approximently where it will hit.

+1...if they are factory loads and they were given to you, consider it free brass and shoot em. Maybe you'll find your gun likes em.
