I know this is late but why not change to AA#9 or 800x- the last two deer I took with a hand gun -.41 /255 .330 meplat @ 1340--worked very well -- I hunt in the swamp and if they run which likely they will some it is a tuff place-- like Greybeard said shot place --one was 1/3 up and both lungs were ruined and she went about 20-30 steps-- the other a little higher and she ran for about 80+? yards still had enough blood to track--this was back at Christmas--08-- shot they deer aobut 5 min apart and with in 5 steps of the same spot
AA#9 really drops recoil for me and has been very accurate --
800x gives good velocity and again drops recoil but is dirtier
there any number of powders that will do this -- BTw I have had good results with lighter jhp -- but being addicted to lead --will have 200 or so -- I rarely use them
If you call Hornady they have recomended the 200 XTP loaded 80% or so

I think that for 09', I will try ccoker's load (reply #11) of trying the 265gr bullets ahead of some 2400. Should make for some interesting testing but they are going to have to be very good to beat out
The 240 XTP with 23.6 to 24.2gr of 296.
