Oh well, not a surprise.
« on: January 11, 2009, 08:39:26 AM »
From today's Chicago Tribune artcle about Roland Burris.  I do believe he will be seated as the Dems have softened towards him and the Illinois supreme court has ruled that his appointment is valid.  The article discusses Burris' agenda....

"On the domestic side, Burris supports banning assault weapons. In his lone attempt to win a U.S. Senate seat, an unsuccessful bid in 1984, he backed a national handgun ban only to wait to turn in his own handgun a decade later."

No surprise, but the weight against the lawful gun owner continues to grow.

All these bans are OK as long as you can afford to hire armed body guards.

i  think  on  inaggeration day  the  remaining democrats   that  own  guns, have  money,  and  not convicted felons

should  re-register  to another party
when drugs are outlawed only out laws will have drugs
DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO STOP A DEMOCRAT
OBAMACARE....the biggest tax hike in the  history of mankind
free choice and equality  can't co-exist
AFTER THE LIBYAN COVER-UP... remind any  democrat voters ''they sat and  watched them die''...they  told help to ''stand down''

Cement Man, I read in the Bloomington Pantagraph a day of so back that they want to end the scandal and move on? Led by Tricky Dick Durbin the only US senator who changes his email address every few days so his constituents can't contact him and blamed the gas shortage on us(for owning SUVs) while riding every where he goes in a chauffeured stretch limo.

The word that keeps resurfacing in my mind when I think of our politicos in this state is "phony" - "phony" - "phony".

A friend from Chicago forwarded this to me this morning.  Pretty funny - and true.

Proft's latest featured commentary on Don Wade & Roma:

Restored Faith in the Chicago Democrats

Click here to listen to an .mp3 of this commentary as heard on today morning's Don Wade & Roma Morning Show on WLS AM-890.

Click here to email Dan Proft

I will admit; over the last several weeks my faith in the ability of Chicago Democrats to run Illinois state government had been shaken.

I have always tried to be a "Yes We Can" kind of guy like, say, Tony Rezko? But I had started to give in to the cynics.

I began to believe that maybe Illinois truly was little more than a feudal kleptocracy where absolute primogeniture had replaced popular elections as the pathway to public office. I actually started to think Illinois that the problems with Illinois' political culture might extend beyond Blagojevich. Can you fathom such a thing?

My mind careened from one unhealthy notion to another. Could corruption be driving businesses and jobs from our state? I wonder if the Chicago Public Schools could be performing better.

I am not proud of succumbing to these doubts. I was weak.

Perhaps we are overtaxed?

I couldn't stop myself.

Is it possible that Todd Stroger is not the best person to be put in charge of $3 billion worth of government?

My nerves were frayed. I was nearing breakdown. And then.it happened.

On Friday, the Illinois House voted to impeach Rod Blagojevich.

Two words: political courage.

Faced with a governor slightly less popular than rectal cancer, Chicago Democrats up and down the political food chain who twice supported Blagojevich's election moved with righteous urgency to try and salvage their careers.

It was the kind of inspired, fairy-tale bravery the likes of which I have not seen since Barack Obama renounced Jeremiah Wright as his spiritual North Star.

So rest easy, Illinois. Normalcy is right around the corner. From Zion in the north to Cairo in the south, the Blagojevich curtain that had descended across Illinois is about to be lifted.

With Blagojevich gone, the innovative, low-tax, job-creating, puritanical Chicago Democrats who have so beautifully handled the Roland Burris affair and other matters of state during their long-running tenure are poised to usher in a period of untold prosperity for Illinoisans.

And if you believe any of what I've just said, I've got a reasonably priced U.S. Senate seat to sell you.

Cement Man, excellent post but, if Don Wade thinks the state of Illinois under the Daley mob Will bring prosperity he's crazy but, I can understand this thinking because Chicago runs Illinois and he's from Chicago. Still, very funny. Maybe Illinois would be better served if WLS went back to rock and roll music?

Steve,
Yeah, I wish WLS would return to Rock & Roll.  On that subject subject, I remember when I was in the service in the mid-60's, I could get WLS in many far off places on a little transistor radio at night.  I mean like Amarillo TX, San Francisco, etc.  I can't even get it in Northern Ill. now at night.  Wonder why?

I didn't take it that Dan Proft was giving Daley a pass.  I hope not.  I took it as mocking the hypocracy of the self-righteous Chicago Dems and the illusion of their political efficiency.

Can we secede from Chicago?
