P 32
« on: March 06, 2009, 03:40:34 PM »
I finally broke down and purchased a pocket pistol.  I have been putting off getting one for years.  It took me nearly 10 years before I bought my American Arms 22 Mag pocket gun.  I have always been a big iron man, 44's and 45's, 357's.  Well after a recent trip to Savannah, I thought I better get one before the government stops their sale.  Anyway, I purchased it and 4 boxes of ammo.  I was really surprised with how good the little gun shoots.  In fact it was so good I fired 100 rounds though it at the range today.  The pistol never missed, no jam, no misfire.  I like it so good I am going to get a spare.

Excellent plan! That's what I did with the P-32 and the P3AT.

Has Kel-Tec improved over the years?  I had one several (about 8??) years ago and it was a not very reliable.   Did I just get a lemon?

How d0 they compare.  Is the muzzle flip signifigantly less on the p 32 than the pt a3.
The balistics are about 90 grain at about 800fps compared to 71 grain at about 800 fps?

32 acp ammo is more expensive I think.?  is it as hard to find at 380 ?

I like my pt 3at but I think the p-32 might be more to my wifes liking with less zip in the muzzle flip.

The guns are about identical  design and weight, yes ?

The P-32/P3AT are pretty much identical in size and weight. There is a noticeable difference in recoil between the two. Currently it's easier to find .32 ammo than the .380. To answer LD's question: I am told the 2nd gen pistols are more reliable than the 1st gen ones. I currently own (2) P3ATs and (1) P32. Mine are 1st gen models and have been reliable. My 1st P3AT destroyed the fame when the assembly pin walked out during a 50 rd BUG qualification. KT fixed it for me, and hard chromed the slide, all no charge. For $200-250, you don't get SIG quality, but you do get a small, light, locked breech pistol of light caliber that makes a great pocket pistol.

Mark,
I have a PF9 and two P11s in addition to the above .32/.380s. I have had zero problems with the PF9 with all ammo tried. It is the best carrying 9mm I own, period! It's too big for my pockets, but carries great in a Don Hume IWB holster. Of the Kel Tecs I own, the PF9 and P3AT are the best shooters of the lot. The P32 locks back the slide on the last shot which is a feature I like, but not an absolute requirement in a BUG---IMO. The .380 KT doesn't have this feature. It's a useful feature to have on the range to prevent dry firing on an empty chamber if you don't count your shots. The Ruger LCP may have this feature if it's important to ya.
